The Big Top
Last weekend an old friend (the friendship is old, not the friend) took our kids to the circus. It was great fun! It was surprisingly long! This picture is of Ben, Luke, and my friend Jen's daughter Marissa (she's so cute!). My Lukie (as you can see) had his moments of not liking all the fun.
Gearing up for the Holidays
Tues. night we decorated our new place for Christmas. We still don't have a tree, but we did the rest of the decorating. The boys went outside and put lights up on the bushes. They loved it!
Then we sat and watched a Charlie Brown Christmas. Which, is a Christmas Tradition in itself. I was so happy and surprised to see ABC airing a show that quotes scripture! I mean, it seems like that's the last thing network television would put on. I'm glad for it. I think we all could use a reminder of the real meaning of Christmas. That being said, Ben asked me this morning where his presents were. His thinking, we put up the Christmas decorations, so where's the presents? Uh, we might have a little bit of work to go! But who am I kidding, presents are a GREAT part of Christmas.
Speaking of presents...I am so excited about what my parents are getting for me this year. Not too long ago, I was looking at a breastfeeding blog and I saw there was something called "album" on it. It contained pics that ladies sent in of themselves breastfeeding their babies. They were so cool. Now, I would NEVER post a pic of myself breastfeeding my baby on the internet. However, it got me thinking...It would be nice to have a pic of the baby and I. You, know, just one for my bedroom for nostalgic reasons.
In the town I grew up in, there is a wonderful photographer, Edda Taylor.
When I was in high school she did my senior pictures. I thought it would be wonderful to have her do a mommy and baby picture. My mom is always asking for ideas this time of year. So, on the 19th in the morning, the baby and I are having our photo session. Then later that afternoon we will have one with all 5 of us- not nursing! I am so excited! I'll let you know how it turns out!
Tuesdays Top Three
Top Three Dates I've Ever Been On
1) One night, for Valentine's Day, I went to my mother-in-law's house to drop off Ben (our only child at the time) and get ready for our date. I think it helps add mystery if you don't see each other getting ready-anyway. Scott came and picked me up and took me to- our house! When I walked in, the whole house was filled with candle light and there was a pathway of candles and rose petals from the door to the table where he had laid out the dinner that he made and put in our fine China. We ate dinner in the candle light to romantic music. I won't share what happened next but it was a wonderful night!
2) When we were first married, Scott had Mondays off. One Sunday night after church got out, Scott just said,"let's go to Chicago to spend the night." So, he whisked me away with nothing but the shirts on our backs to the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. We enjoyed a wonderful night and paid WAY too much for toiletries from the gift shop the next morning. Then we spent the day at the art museum in our church clothes! It was great fun! This, of course, was BEFORE we had children.
3) While in college, Scott once took me to St. Paul Minnesota (the neighboring city) to Orchestra Hall to see the orchestra play. Then we went to a VERY nice restaurant across the street. This was very special to me because I love watching orchestra's play. I used to be in the orchestra in high school, (I know, I know, that qualifies me as a dork). I also LOVE to go to fancy restaurants. It was great!
And, of course, our honeymoon was one gigantic great date as well as our trip to Hawaii. Got some of your own? Share with the group!
In the World Not of It
This weekend we were back in Indiana. As we visited family and friends, I had to deal with some emotions. First, one night I was driving by our old house- the house we just sold 7 months ago. They put up their Christmas tree. They put it in the same spot where we put it, right in front of the big bay window. I supposed everyone who has ever lived in that house put it in the same place. They put lights out on the bushes in front.
