On The Road Again
Our Christmas vacation is coming to an end. Tomorrow we'll be making the 18 hour drive again. Today it's laundry and packing. Just HOW will we fit all this stuff into the back of our car? I'm not sure. We may have to visit UPS on our way out of town. When I get back I'll have pictures to share from our fun trip.
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. I had a great birthday. Scott and I went to Chicago for a great dinner with old friends. Tons of fun.
I'll see you all in a couple of days. Until then, Happy New Year!
A Wonderful Christmas
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas. Ours was busy but wonderful. Some of my favorite things this year were this, this, and a fabulous nursing beads necklace hand picked and hand made by my mil and sil. Oh yes, and these and this which I've been admiring for years. Um, the Nativity I've been admiring for years, not the shoes.
Today we are knee high in new stuff and laundry. We'll be enjoying the day in our jammies for as long as possible. Now that's Christmas!! Even though it's in the 70's at my house right now, and I didn't get the White Christmas I was hoping for, I am still enjoying the bitter cold. From the inside, with a warm cup a joe. Just as God intended Christmas to be!
We Made It!
Well, we did it. We left out house Friday at 12:40pm eastern time and arrived this morning at 6:30am central time. It went extremely well. The kids were in great moods the whole time. Scott and I took turns through the night and we are all alive and well this morning. Whew. Let the Christmas celebrations begin!
We've got lots of things planned. I'm not sure if I'll be able to log on again before Christmas. If I don't, Merry Christmas to you all!
Love,
Sheryl
My Turn to Hoopla
Ok, so you've all seen this ahem hoopla going around. Well, now it's my turn thanks to Jen at More Than a Single Mom. Can I just take a min. to say how much she amazes me?!?! She works TWO jobs, goes to school, and she's a mom on top of all of that. It makes me tired just to think of all that she has to do in a day! Props to you Jen.
Ok, back to the hoopla. Here's the details incase you don't have them memorized yet...
Here are the instructions:1. List 12 random things about yourself that has to do with Christmas.
2. Please refer to it as a hoopla and not the dreaded "m" word.
3. You have to specifically tag someone when your're done, no leaving
it open.
4. Do it quickly, Lets get as many people tagged as possible.
1. I love being pregnant at Christmas time. It's so much easier for me to remember the REAL meaning of Christmas when I've got my own baby growing inside of me.
2. When I was growing up, my brother and I put up the Christmas tree by ourselves for many years. My parents always had Thanksgiving at our house. They would then go out of town for a rest that weekend and my brother and I would stay home and put up the tree by ourselves.
3. Also when I was younger we would string popcorn and put it on our Christmas tree. Since I've been married, my husband thinks this is weird and gross and does NOT want it on our tree.
4. My birthday is 3 days after Christmas (in case you forgot) and my brother's is on Christmas Day. Yep, we got the shaft when it comes to birth dates.
5. Oh Holy Night is a favorite Christmas song for both my husband and I.
6. My second favorite is Mary Did You Know.
Whew! This is harder than it looks!
7. We don't do outdoor lights, although every year I have dreams of a great outdoor display. It just has never happened. Maybe someday.
8. This year our children have already opened their presents from us. We knew we would let them open our presents before our trip but they wore us down. They've been open for over a week already!
9. We don't do the Santa thing with our kids. We've told them the real story of St. Nicholas but they know the presents under the tree come from friends and family. Although this year, Luke has decided that he believes in Santa no matter what we tell him. That's fine with us too.
10. I know I've blogged about this before, but I don't like going to church on Christmas morning, or Christmas Eve. I think Christmas should be spent at home, in your jammies, with your family. I know probably everyone will disagree with me on this one but I just really don't like it. This year I will enjoy not having to be in a church for any of these services probably for the last time for many years.
11. We usually don't start our Christmas shopping until around the 20th. This year it's the 19th and I'm almost completely done!! Woo Hoo!
12. I love the traditions of Christmas. Making a gingerbread house, decorating the tree the same way every year, visiting family, I love it all.
Now I tag Lori over at Glass Half Full.
Ha!
A conversation I had the other day while Luke was looking at some Christmas decorations...
Luke: N...O...E...L
Me: Mmm Hmmm, Noel
Luke: Yes there is.
Me: What?
Luke: There is too an L (very irritated)! I just said it. It's right there!
Me: What? OH! Yes there IS an L but the word is Noel.
