Our Story

Thanks to you all for your wonderful love and support during this crazy time!

Here is the story of how our little Aisling came to be born...

Tuesday morning Ethan woke up early and came right into our room. Scott went to get Ethan his drink and I started to feel some contractions. I knew they weren't braxton hicks but I didn't want to sound any alarms. We decided to keep the boys home for our family resting day. Since Ethan had been throwing up the night before, we decided that he and I would stay in bed for the day and snuggle and snooze. I had contractions the entire day. Some every 30 min. Some every 10 min. I still knew they weren't braxton hicks but they were totally bearable.

I have to say here that this was the BEST way to labor. At home, snuggled in my bed with my baby. No monitors strapped to my belly, no one poking me and "checking progress." Around 4pm the contractions really started getting stronger and I got out my birthing ball. After Scott got the boys in bed (around 8pm) they started getting a good pattern of every 4-10 min apart. I have to add that at this point my husband was scrubbing my kitchen and our bathrooms for me- cuz he's that awesome.

Although I said I wouldn't go in until my water broke, Scott thought it would be a good idea if we just go ahead and go in then, instead of in the middle of the night when it was an emergency. So we called our friend to come over.

We left the house a little after 9pm. As soon as we got in the car, the contractions got crazy strong. Like, I don't remember them ever being that strong. Scott says he had his car up to 120 on the way. We got to the hospital and they checked me for the first time at around 10pm. I was at 7. For those of you who have known me for my other births, this is a HUGE miracle. I've always had to be induced and it's always taken me forever to dilate at all. Ten minutes later I was at 9. At 10:59 my little 9lb.02 oz. 21 1/2 inch Aisling Elizabeth was born! There were no drugs, no anything. There was no time for any of that.  In all honesty, it was the most painful and brutal delivery of any of my others. But, it was only an hour and in so many ways it was an answer to all my prayers.

The first thing I said when they laid her on my tummy was, "somebody check her and make sure she really IS a GIRL!"

We are all at home now and doing well.

She is so beautiful! The boys look so proud to be big brothers. Way to go on the delivery. I had a similar experience with Alisha, and she was 9lbs/10oz. She is just too beautiful for words! We are all sharing in your joy.

Wow, what a story! I know going that fast (my last one was like that) with no drugs is extremely intense. I hope you feel like a superhero right about now, because you definitely are one!

Congrats to all the boys (all 4) and the mama and the girl. Family of 6!

Praise God! How wonderful! And it was good you listened to your husband about when to go in...otherwise you might have ended up with an unintended home birth or backseat birth! :)

She's beautiful. Your family is beautiful. You make great looking kids. AND YOU LOOK AMAZING!

Congratulations!

How sweet! You're making me want to have a fourth. But I'll wait & see how it goes for you!

I'm glad your labor was short & you used no drugs - I always think that's the best combination.

She's beautiful.

I think I'll send you a cape because you really are "supermom." What a wonderfully awesome story. Jenna's birth was much like that and I think I did feel invinsible after giving birth to her....I mean what an amazing thing you did!!! God is so faithful. I just knew you'd have an awesome story to tell. I only wish I could run over to your house and hold her and hug you all.
Love you,
Tricia
