Weird, Wild, Freaky Stuff

So this morning, Scott, Ethan and I are at home. Little Einsteins came on so Ethan assumed the comatose position of laying on the floor in front of the tv with his blanket. I decided to take the few minutes to post on my blog some pictures of my about to burst belly. Scott (who works at home, THANK GOD) was rearranging the computers at the desk. Scott and I were both in our bedroom which is right off the living room. So maybe we were 10 feet from Ethan- maybe. Ok, got that picture in your head? Good.

As I was typing I heard what sounded like our Garage door closing. Ethan and I had just gotten back from Target and I knew I only had a few minutes until we had to pick up Luke from school so I left the garage door open when we got home. But I ignored the noise thinking it was probably the heater kicking on because it seems impossible that our garage door would be closing.

The next noise I hear sounds like someone is coming in from the garage into the kitchen. I contemplated ignoring that noise too, it seemed impossible that someone could be coming into our house. But, as I put down the computer, I said, "that sounds like someone just came into the house." I took one step out of our bedroom only to see A STRANGE MAN standing at our kitchen table! The man was maybe in his 70's and dressed in a shirt and tie. I gasped and my husband pushed me out of the way to handle the situation. Let me say here how grateful I am that my husband works from home and I did not have to handle this situation by myself not to mention that at this point I was shaking like a leaf!

For all of our friends across the pond and in other countries, let me tell you that Florida (the state where we live) is the place where many people move to when they retire. We have many elderly retirees on our street. Through the course of my husband's verbal confrontation with the strange man standing in our kitchen, we came to a very sad resolution. The man simply was in the wrong house. Last month the man lived two houses down from us with his daughter. Then the house two doors down from us in the other direction went up for sale and he moved there. He was coming home today and somehow got turned around. He ended up in our kitchen. All was well but left us a little frazzeled. Mostly we feel bad for him knowing he must've been humiliated.

Then tonight we got the boys in bed and settled in at the couch for a little quite time. We were all warm and snuggli when we hear this ferocious crash of a noise outside. I must've jumped 3 feet in the air and we headed off to check on the kids.  They were fine. Scott headed outside to see what the heck was going on. He didn't see anything but I'm sure it was the aliens from Signs landing on our roof. A few more events like these and this baby will be falling out on her own! I'm sure before we sleep tonight we will triple check the locks and hold each other tight throughout the night!

Wow, nothing like a good fright to induce labor! And two in one day? It's a wonder you aren't at the hospital.

Hope things calm down around there.

oh gosh I bet your heart skipped a few beats. Yikes unexpected strangers in the middle of your house, is not fun.

but I pity the old man though. Was he very confused?

Yikes, at least is was an innocent mistake by a confused elderly man. But holy cow I think I would have had a heart attack.

No more leaving the garage door open!

Oh my gosh, so sad for that man. And so glad you are all ok!

Thank God I didn't have to go to jail for knocking out a confused old man! You can't get in too much trouble for shouting at them if they wander into your house I don't think :-)

Good Lord. Who would have thought so much excitement could happen in the retirement state?

Hope you're feeling well!

Wow, that must have been so scary. Good thing Scott didn't jump on him or grab the kitchen butcher knife or give him a karate chop.

Oh hun, how frightening that must have been! I bet when your heart sped up and you had that burst of adrenaline your baby got excited, too LOL

Thank God your hubby was home and the man wasn't there to do you harm. I'm just glad you're okay. WOW. How scary that must have been at first.

That is freaky. I'm glad everyone was ok, and it was a simple mistake. I feel bad for the poor man. He is probably so embarassed. I know I was when I stood there at the hotel trying to get the key card to open the door, and then realizing it's the wrong room. My family simply stood behind me laughing at me the whole time. What's worse was the people in the hall behind them laughing at me too!
