A Private Superbowl Party
I don't think I've mentioned this before but oh my goodness do I hate football. I mean, I don't dislike it a lot, I really hate it. We won't go in to all the many reasons right now. Today, is the first time since my Ben was born that we haven't had to endure some sort of superbowl party, and he's 5.
Today, we sat at home, and enjoyed each other. I'm still WAY under the weather so Scott went to the grocery store and picked up one of their favorite dinners. They love turkey sausage, with sliced cheese, crackers, cream cheese, & pickles. My mother in law will recognize that dinner quite well. This time around we added hot wings and mozzarella sticks. The boys just love that dinner. We sat around the table and laughed with each other during all the pre game crap stuff.
Once the game got underway, Ben laughed and laughed as he teased his Daddy about which teams would win. Luke got bored quickly because the Colts were not in this game (I blame his Pappa for this strange new "favorite" team). So he and Ethan retired to the newly loved toddler bed for a little Nemo.
That's them. Both with their blankets, both sucking their fingers after bathtime.
Ethan amused us with some new phrases tonight...
"I love you!" (said screaming in a James Brown voice just as his Daddy says it to him)
"Ready? A Loud." (repeating what mommy said right before she turns on the blender to make his soy smoothies) (Well, actually I say, "ready? it's gonna be loud.")
"Here comes. Nemo" (while waiting for the FBI warnings to go away at the beginning of his DVD)
"Let's see"...(as he looks in the pantry )
"A Mommy, OFF" (as he runs out of his brother's bedroom from the reign of terror he is about to incur from turning off their tv while they were playing Playstation)
Finally, right before the boys went to bed for the night, we made chocolate chip cookies and ate them warm with vanilla ice cream. Now my little boys are asleep and the game is almost over. It hasn't annoyed me a bit. This was the best Superbowl party I've ever been to.

Why couldn't you escape super bowl parties in the past? Is that a naieve ignorant european question :p? We are for sure totally oblivious to football.
We hate sports here, too. I am making some superbowl-type foods tonight, though, just for fun.
We've always had church superbowl parties to attend or just at people's houses that we felt like we didn't have a good reason not to go.
Superbowl food= snack foods, finger foods, super unhealthy foods, yummy!
