I Don't Know How to French Braid Hair

And other thoughts about having this baby...

1. I don't know how to French braid hair. Good thing it's not really instyle anymore.

2. I think it was easier to bring baby Luke home with a 15 month old at home than to bring this baby home home to a 6 and almost 5 year old. With multiple babies or at least preschoolers at home we could set our own schedule, stay in our jammies if we need to etc. No problem to add a newborn. But now, I have 2 in school. That means I have to be dressed and out the door by 7:30AM. I have to make lunches, turn in permission slips, home work, library books, etc. Plus have a newborn.

3. I hope and pray that these boys I have will love this girl as much as they've loved and accepted Ethan.

4. I love this crib set and my awesome mil found these to go with it.

5. I would love to have another ultrasound just to double check.

6. Yesterday while I was in the salon, a mother dropped off her teenage daughter. Every question the beautician asked the teenager about what she wanted done to her hair, the mother answered. What kind of mother will I be to a daughter? Will I let her speak for herself, or will I answer for her so that I make sure I have the final ok.

7. I don't think I like bikini's on little girls.

8. I hope she is beautiful and brilliant, strong and athletic, feminine and meek, wise and gentle, happy and secure all the days of her life.

9. I hope I am mother enough to know when to listen without inserting my opinion and when to intervene.

10. It would be so cool if her cousin was a girl and they could be dear close friends all of their lives.

11. I hope I don't mess this up.

Aw- you'll do just fine! First of all, start with wet hair when French Braiding... and a book you might enjoy that I think has lots of hair tips and other fun things is the Daring Book For Girls. I know I'll be reading it cover to cover if I have a girl! And those boys- I bet they will treat her like a princess!!!

Those dragonflies are darling!

P.S. You wrote more while I was commenting! I don't like bikinis on little girls either! But I wore one when I was like 4, and was pretty cute. Ha!

You will do fine. Listen to your mommy gut and your heart. I have never been someone to be able to do hairstyles at all, and Windy hasn't suffered, so far! As far as bikini's on little girls, I didn't think I liked it either, but we went through a very short phase where it was ok! Now we are back to no bikini's. You are a good mom and you have the most important thing down you love your children!!
PS don't worry about the hormone thing with just the girl, turns out even boys go through it, not so much differently, just no period to help curve it!!!! (isn't that encouraging)

Having a little girl is so much fun - and honestly, I have two daughters and can barely make a ponytail.I don't like bikinis on little girls either... having a little girl brings its own special magic. You'll do great.

I really hope you don't mess this up too!

The title (and first point) of this post made me smile. I'm right there with you on numbers 7, 8, 9, and 11 (for Little, and for Boo too - where applicable). And we don't do bikinis for little girls either. That crib bedding is adorable.

I'm sure your boys will welcome their sister lovingly; they will teach her to play hard and be tough, but they will watch over her like only older brothers can.

I love the bedding! We never let our girls wear bikinis. From when they were very young we taught them about modesty, and now there are no arguments about what's acceptable and what's not.
You are going to be a great mom to your daughter. God needs who you are, specifically, to raise her to be all she's been created to be. He designed it that way. There are no mess-ups.

I have to disagree with the ages and ease! Bringing Corinne home with 2 school age boys was AWESOME. She got into a schedule immediately, she had no choice! Corinne was the BEST sleeper I've ever had, and I blame the routine of school age kids completely.

You'll do fine. Girls are just as great as boys!

I remembering thinking many of these when I assumed Mark was a girl.

I hate bikinis on little girls (and older girls) too!

And I hear ya on having a baby with older kids. Matt was 4 and in 3-day a week morning preschool. Talk about a snag in our daily routine. Mark learned to adjust quickly!

THINKING OF YA!

I think that you and Scott have created such a fabulous family atmosphere that your little girl will be easily welcomed into the fold and loved unconditionally by her big brothers. And I mean, what a lucky little girl she will be, having all of that love and devotion showered her way .....

I think baby girls 12 months and under with all their rolls are too cute! But I don't like bigger girls in them. I think you'll do just fine with a girl. They're fun...until they turn 11...Lord help me!!!

I know exactly what you mean. It's hard to get your mind around being the mama of a girl after you have a boy. Much less three. BUt, you'll do beautifully. And think of all the pink/girly girl fun stuff you get to buy. I'm LOVING the nursery theme!!!!!!

Don't sweat the small stuff! Never say never and don't plan anything for her, she will tell YOU how she wants to do things, trust me, I know! If she wants a bikini, she will wear a bikini, whether she is 4 or 14. Girls know what they want and they can't be talked out of anything. For compromise, turn to your sons. My son you can reason with, my daughter is hard headed like her mother.

Just go with the flow!

I think the fact you are thinking and preparing for this stuff, shows you'll do a great job.

Apparently I'm a harlot, cause I think bikinis on little girls are adorable. I also had no idea that french braids weren't in style anymore.......good thing Jenna's too young to know the difference :-)
Whenever I have a baby, boy or girl, I am always awed that God would trust me with this responsibility!! I have frequently had the thought, "Man, I hope I don't totally screw them all up!!"

I'm excited for you because you're in for an exciting, new adventure with many sweet moments to remember.

It's amazing how many fears come up during pregnancy and you always wonder "how the heck am I gunna do this?", and yet, you figure it out, and its FINE. I can't wait to see her! And you kinda freaked me out... I don't know how to french braid either! I gotta figure it out, my kid came out with tons of hair!
