Speaking of Back to School...

When we lived in Indiana, Ben went to preschool for a year. Every night before the kids go to bed, we say a prayer over them that comes from various scriptures. When I knew Ben would be going to school, I wanted to find a prayer for him so that he would get the absolute best out of his school experience. Here is what we prayed over him everyday before he left for school...

Ben who has knowledge spares his words, and he is a man of understanding and of a calm spirit. (Prov. 17:27) Ben is wise in heart and will receive commands. (Prov 10:8) He walks with integrity and walks securely. (prov 10:9) Wisdom is found on Ben's lips and he has understanding. (Prov 10:13) Ben is wise, he stores up knowledge, (Prov 10:14) he keeps instructions, and he is in the Way of Life. (Prov 10:17)

 

This year, as the boys go off to school, we will be praying this prayer over both our boys, inserting Luke's name also. You may pray this prayer over your child too, just insert the name of your child where ever you see the name Ben.

Oh that's a great prayer! I may just use it! Even though my kid is not going to school and she'll be at home, it'll still be great for anytime she's not with us.

I love, love, love this prayer! It is perfect for little boys (or girls) as they go off to school. God's Word is so powerful and, when planted as a seed, it ALWAYS produces what was sown! I think you should share the rest of the prayers you say with your boys every night. They will benefit others, too, I'm sure.

Thanks for sharing that! I definately will be praying this over my son. I'm so apprehensive about him going off to kindy I'm afraid I'll fall apart on the first day. I think this inspirational prayer will help get me through those first days of school and give me courage that His precious hands are covered over my baby.
