Uncle Jared

My baby has a favorite Uncle. It's Uncle Jared (my husbands youngest brother). Whenever he is around, Ethan will be held by no one else. He'll take me for a few min. to nurse then it's right back to Uncle Jared. They really do have a special bond and it is so sweet. Maybe it's because Ethan is his namesake (Jared Ethan). Maybe it's because they are both the third of three boys. Somehow, they just get each other.

This week Ethan and my husband and I were sitting at the kitchen table and Ethan made this face that was EXACTLY a face that his Uncle Jared makes. We both looked at each other in disbelief. 

The truth is, all three of my boys are crazy about their Uncle Jared. He's just what an uncle should be. He plays video games with them, watches movies with them, he even lets them play his cool guitars. On the other hand, he doesn't let them get away with anything. After their grandparents, he is my favorite choice for a babysitter. He always takes such good care of my boys.

He is a great friend and a great brother. 

We all love him so much!

The photo is hilarious!

My boys are like that with Uncle Jeff. He comes around and everyone else is second fiddle. Not sure how they will be when he has his own kids soon???

I love it. What a perfect uncle. Although there in that picture he looks like Creepy Uncle Jared (just kidding!) For Gray, we considered naming him Joel instead (that's my brother's middle name) but maybe for the next boy... if we have another!

aw, thanks, Sheryl! yeah, i think it's important for people to know that I was supposed to be Magnum P.I. in that picture and that I grew the mustache for that specific costume and I don't usually wear aviator sunglasses. because in that picture I look like the kind of uncle who will buy your kids beer and cigarettes.

It is so very comforting isn't it to know that your children have such wonderful family to go to for laughter and love. Grandparents, uncles and aunts can play such a major role in a child's life and it becomes that more precious when your children enjoy every minute with them.

Happy Birthday Magnum ... er I mean Jared. In my day, growing up, Magnum was quite the hunk ......
