Lessons From Life
This week I had to do grocery shopping in the middle of the day and I had to take a kid with me. I usually try to go at night after they are all in bed. That way, I can go by myself, I can take as much time as I want, and there aren't as many people in the store to deal with.
He had to push his own kid sized cart (super cute until he was running down the aisle and totally wiped out. Cart sideways, food all over the floor, kid screaming - you get the picture). ANYWAY! Near the deli department he spots the lobster tank. "Mom, let's look at the Lobsters!" "Sure!" I say while looking at my watch and thinking the baby is at home with daddy ready to nurse any min. and we don't have half the stuff we are supposed to get yet, but why not sit for 10 min. to look at the lobsters.
Then this conversation happened. From now on what Ben says will be marked with a B and what I say will be marked with an M for mom or me or whatever.
B- They are gross!
M- I agree, let's go.
B- (not moving) What do Lobsters eat.
M- Well, I think they just crawl around on the ocean floor eating all the garbage and pieces of dead animals laying there. God made them to clean the ocean of all that stuff. That's why God told us in the Bible not to eat them.
B- Oh, (then he repeated the whole thing back to me)
We had to repeat the entire conversation several times in the store.
Then there was this one.
Scott got called last min. to do a convention in Illinois. Since we only have 1 family car right now, the kids and I decided to tag along. When we left Ohio it was sunny and 53. As we drove west the weather got colder and blowier and snowier. Until eventually we arrived and it was 29 degrees and we could barely see across the street from all the blowing snow.
M- (thinking to myself) some March!
M- You know kids, ( I tell the whole March coming in like a lion and out like a lamb thing).
Later that night, Ben repeated it and said,
B-then at the end of March the weather is warm and nice just like a sheep!
Wouldn't our lives be dull without the kids?!

Ben's mind sounds like Matt's -- it's funny!
