That's not MY job!
A few days ago, Scott and I were kidding around with each other about who was going to do a rather undesirable task at our house. Let's just say, it had to do with a toilet. This brought us around to who does what around the house and I thought it might be interesting to hear how it goes in your house.
At our house, I am usually responsible for...
General housework
Most childcare duties (although this one is basically a tag team effort)
Shopping for, preparing, and cleaning up after the food
Family entertainment
Educating the children
Checkbook managing
Scott usually handles
Anything to do with the garbage
Anything to do with the vehicle
Anything to do with plumbing or fixing things
I have to add this one to his list as he says that it trumps any of mine: spiritual leadership, wellbeing and development of the family
Taxes (yuck)
I could go on and on with these lists but those are just a few. So, how are the duties handled in your house?

NEITHER of us do anything regarding "fixing things" other than ME calling a repairman or my DAD!! Jeff also is still the head of our house no matter what the jobs... etc. ; )
Steph
As far as the "mom duties" you mentioned......sounds similar!!!
My boyfriend works 3 to 4 days a week abroad, so then all the work is by definition for me.
He adores to cook and usually cooks loads in the weekend. So I can still profit from some yummie leftovers on the weekdays that he is gone. On the weekdays that he works from home, he has dinner ready by the time I get home (and even if I have stuffed the fridge before he comes home, he often goes doing grocery shopping anyway since I do not seem to buy the exact ingredients he had in mind) (with too much food turning bad as a result).
So actually we sometimes have fights that he doesn't give me the opportunity to get to cook enough :p.
I am usually the one cleaning up empty cans, bottles etc in our kitchen and putting them in the appropriate garbage bins in the garden. But he usually puts the general garbage outside while the recycling round on an other day is my job since he's not in the country at that moment.
We both throw laundry in the machine (but I mostly do the sorting into different temperatures and types of loads) and ironing is almost 50/50. Since we have 2 irons and 2 boards we've already done it side by side while watching tv or talking. But that is rare. Usually someone starts who is fedup with the ironing piling up , or who needs something urgently. He or I iron one basket and if there is still some leftover, the other one will take over.
We both hate cleaning so we usually do it together when the dust (we are still in renovations) start driving us crazy. He vaccuums for example while I dust and wash the floors.
I do everything to do with my car, he does concerning his.
And we do all renovations in the house together although in heavy physical jobs my task is restricted to assisting, handing stuff and cleaning up. But non physical jobs like painting, plastering are done together. I really love the fact that I can say "you see that wall: I plastered and painted it! and this floor heating....I helped putting the tubes in". It gives great satisfaction!
He goes to work and helps with the kids while I cook dinner... and he's good about folding or starting a load of laundry.
Taking out the trash/recycling and mowing the lawn is done by whichever of us gets the chance first. :o)
