I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

This morning when I took the boys to school it was 39 degrees. As Luke and I were standing outside his school waiting for them to let us in, I thought, "you know, if it started to rain right now, it might even snow." But, Alas, they don't call Florida the sunshine state for nuthin. It'll be 60 before the day is through. I overheard two parents on my way out of the school saying that it's "just too cold. I don't know how people live in the north." Meanwhile I've been looking longingly at the pictures of all the snow in people's yards. I've heard of the ice storms going on the parts of the midwest. Call me crazy but it all seems, sort of, romantic to me. That is how weather is supposed to be this time of year. There's not much better than sitting by a lit Christmas tree with a hot beverage watching the snow come down while your children play at your feet. An ice storm? Sounds great. To be locked in your house with nothing to do but play games and listen to Christmas music while snuggled under layers of sweat pants and blankets? Why, that's just how God intended it to be. I'm sure come February I'll be so glad it's not cold here but for now, I can't wait till Friday when we get to load up the car and head north.

This is why I do well with the cold temps until after Christmas. The months of Jan thru March are brutal!

I totally get that! We never have a white snow, but at least it is freezing this week and it totally helps me getting in the Christmas mood. Yes these dark days of the year are a time of cocooning and getting together by the fireplace. So what do you do when it's too hot to light a fireplace? ...I'd have difficulty with that as well.

There is something romantic about being snug outdoors while there's a wild snowstorm outside - but alas, nothing romantic at all about driving in one.

Oh Sheryl!!! I couldn't agree with this post more. One parent said this morning at preschool... and this is why we live in Florida for warm not cold? Yea, but its Christmas it suppose to be cold hehe.

I'm counting down the days till we go home for Christmas as well. :)

I wish that I had your positive attitude yesterday morning at 5:00 as we were digging the cars out of the garage to go to work......by 7:30!
I can't even imagine a hot Christmas! Sounds so foreign...It is plenty white up here, and I love it. I honestly don't mind the shovelling and snow until somewhere around the end of February and March. Then, I'm ready for the ice to disappear and the grass to start showing. Until then, I'm happy to be covered in layers, drinking hot coffee, and freezing my butt off!

Welcome to winter in the South (and you are much farther South than I am). One good thing about our lack of snow is that we do romanticize it, and when we actually get a little (like an inch), most of the city shuts down! Glad you will get to spend Christmas at home where you should have snow (or at least cold)!

We'll save some snow for you! It's sure to be here for awhile. I also heard that it's supposed to snow again this weekend. I don't mind it as long as it's not accompanied by the bitter wind (which it is today.) I have a Trailblazer, so I just drove around the minivans sliding all ove the place.

OK a White Christmas is great, but a white drive home from work and dig your way into the drive and then a dig your way out the very next morning and then a white drive to work will change your thoughts on that!! I do love to watch the kids sled though and have fun and come in to warm up with some hot chocolate and then curl under the blankets with me!! Alright, you got me, I do enjoy the "real" changing of seasons we have here! Have a safe drive home please, drive carefully and don't be in a hurry, enjoy your time on the way!

Hear! Hear! I am with you on that one!! Ironically, I live in the North compared to you and I haven't seen a white Christmas in years. I too yearn for the fluffy white stuff to fall right around the holiday season. There is just nothing like listening to the sound of falling snow when out for a night time walk ......
