Do You Remember?

Sunday, Jan. 28th was the 21st anniversary of the Challenger Shuttle Explosion.

ch_launch.jpgDo you remember where you were when this happened? I was in 1st grade. There were 3 first grade classes in my school at that time. We all gathered in one classroom to watch the shuttle launch. It was so exciting.  We waited for what seemed like hours for the final countdown. 10....9...8....

It was the first shuttle launch I'd ever seen.

challenger 1986.jpgI remember not knowing exactly what was going on, why was everyone so sad?  Why did they turn the TV off so suddenly?

 I can't believe it's been 21 years. A day to remember, for sure Jan. 28, 1986.

You were in grade one? I was 14 and home for school and watched it happen on live tv. Awful.

I too was in 1st grade, but home from school due to a teacher in-service day. I remember watching with my brother in wonder and then horror.

Thanks for the reminder. It was totally out of my thoughts and I wouldn't have remembered it. I was in 9th grade and do remember being moved to tears just from the shock of it actually happening in front of our eyes. It was great getting your email and learning more about you and your ministry. We can keep up more personal stuff about ministry issues through email, ok? Have a great one!

Did you go to Tball too?
I faint memories...

I remember being in the class room and watching the teacher run to shut the tv off, wondering what the heck happened?

I remember being upset later that evening because there "mommies" on the shuttle.

Amazing, 21 years ago.

I was in 6th grade and we were watching it during school. I remember thinking everything was going as planned until our teacher gasped. Still remember....

I was in 3rd grade, but I only know this because I did the math. I remember thinking it was all okay, it didn't process right away I guess that there was a problem. The whole school was in the gym to watch, and I just remember we all had to go back to our rooms. It still makes me so sad to think about it.

I remember it clearly! I was 22! (the oldest of the group so far) I was working in a office part-time while going to school. I was married later that year!

Thanks for reminding us.
